What We Do
The Africa Nonprofits Compliance Support Unit is run by the Responsible Business Institute Africa (RBI-Africa) as a pro bono initiative providing legal and governance support for nonprofits in Africa. We in particular support legal and governance compliance for organizations championing inclusion, gender equality, responsible business practices and human rights of women, girls and marginalised communities. Our support ensures nonprofits in Africa access affordance high-quality professional legal advice and compliance support without being limited by financial burdens of employing full time internal compliance staff or incurring heavy costs in legal fees. With assistance from top legal professionals, the program covers critical areas such as legal advice on regulatory requirements for nonprofits in different countries in Africa, registration of charities and nonprofits, governance, restructuring, regulatory compliance, setting up operations, donor due diligence, statutory filings and reporting, and ongoing organizational development support.
